The Piedmont Virginia Community College (PVCC) Fitness Club is looking to wake up the student body’s outlook on health and fitness.

Club member Jacob Harned said, “The Fitness Club’s mission is to educate the student body about techniques used to maintain healthy nutrition and fitness in order to help them stay healthy, even with the busy life of a college student.”

The club aims to get more PVCC students to care about their health and fitness regardless of athletic ability. “You don’t have to be an athlete to be fit, and it’s always better to maintain healthy nutrition, even though doing so can be very difficult as a college student,” said Harned.

The club is looking for students who need guidance in their journeys to become fit and healthy. Harned said, “As a club, we want to help other students with any struggles they are facing with fitness and nutrition.”

The Fitness Club is putting together new workshops that will be covered in the near future, including Introduction to Athletic Conditioning, Introduction to Cross-Fit and nutritional health workshops. These workshops aim to teach people how to optimize their workouts and properly fuel their bodies for maximum health and fitness.

The club meets in the Fitness Center on Wednesdays from 12:15 until 1:15 p.m. and on Fridays from 12:15 until 3:00 p.m. Anyone wishing to join the Fitness Club can do so by attending a meeting or emailing Jacob Harned at jch2182@email.vccs.edu.
