PVCC Presents belly dance master class oct. 25
Charlottesville, Va. – Piedmont Virginia Community College’s Dance Master Class series continues on Saturday, Oct. 25, from noon until 2 p.m. with a belly dance class taught by Joy Rayman. The class is suitable for dancers with all levels of experience.
Rayman will introduce her unique blend of belly dance, which includes elements of folkloric dance from the Middle East blended with the more common “cabaret” style of belly dance. The class will include some of the fundamental movements of belly dance, traveling steps and turns and culminate with a short choreography.
Rayman has been studying belly dance for more than 26 years and teaching in Central Virginia for more than 14 years. She is the director of local belly dance group Fire in the Belly Dance Collective.
The class takes place on the Main Stage of the V. Earl Dickinson Building and costs $10 per participant. Students should bring a scarf to tie around the hips.
PVCC’s dance master class series, produced by the PVCC student dance club, includes a variety of dance styles each season and are always open to the public.
