Charlottesville, Va. – Piedmont Virginia Community College’s student Theatre Club (Masquers) hosts Fourth Fridays Improv Friday, Oct. 24, from 6-8 p.m. in the Maxwell Theatre (Black Box) in the V. Earl Dickinson Building. This free workshop series explores the art of theatrical improvisation in its many forms. No experience is required.

Using a series of fun games and exercises for both long- and short-form improv, participants will learn to think fast, improve performance skills and build on the ability to create possibilities. The workshop will also introduce techniques used in playback theatre, an original form of improvisational theatre in which audience members tell stories from their lives and watch them enacted on the spot. The focus will be on ensemble work with the goal of staging a performance in April 2015.

The workshop is led by Brad Stoller, PVCC’s coordinator of theatre productions. An award-winning playwright, Stoller received a Master of Fine Arts in playwriting from the University of Virginia and has taught drama to youth and adults for more than 20 years. For more information, contact Stoller at 434.961.5246 or email bstoller@pvcc.edu.

Additional dates for Fourth Fridays Improv are Jan. 23, Feb. 27 and March 27, 2015.
