Homebrew Event Sunday, October 26
IMAGINE THIS…
It’s the afternoon of Sunday, October 26th, 1pm-5pm.
It’s a sunny day that has reached the wonderfully mild forecast temperature of 72 degrees.
You are standing in the parking lot of Fifth Season Gardening Company, located at 900 Preston Avenue in Charlottesville under a sprawling tent.
You are casually milling among a few hundred attendees, with a 4oz tasting glass in hand, tasting unrestricted samples of more than 100 homebrewed beers, as well as a range of delicious offerings from local craft brewers: Blue Mountain Brewery, Champion Brewery, Three Notch’d Brewing Company Devils Backbone Brewing Company, South Street Brewery, and Wild Wolf Brewing Company!
There is a raffle table where you pick up a couple of $1 tickets for an assortment of amazing prizes, including Gift certificates to local restaurants, breweries, and Whole Foods, Tickets to Concerts at the Jefferson Theatre, and 4 Tickets to a Charlottesville Derby Dames Home Bout (featuring our very own Marlena Yost!)
Having scored a couple of raffle tickets, you get some some tasty local food from one of Charlottesville’s amazing Food Trucks that will be on hand.
And just when you thought things couldn’t get any better, Your friend and colleague J. Beckham wins a Homebrew Competition with one of the four beers she brewed just for this event because of your VOTE!
Sound like some sort of insane fantasy?
Wait, there’s more!
What if I told your that every penny of your $25 pre-sale ticket, every penny of your $1 raffle ticket purchases, and 10% of your food purchases would be donated to The Blue Ridge Area Food Bank.
No.
You Wouldn’t be dreaming.
You would be at Homebrew for Hunger!
In all seriousness, the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank can provide 4 meals for every dollar donated. That means every $25 pre-sale ticket purchased provides 100 meals for food insecure families in our community. As I mentioned in a previous email, this event is close to my heart, as I was one of the founding organizers a few years ago and I have watched some really wonderful people grow it into something remarkable. So even if you can’t make it out this Sunday, please forward some version of this information to at least one person who might enjoy attending. Every ticket sale helps! (and I am SURE that I have missed some folks, as I am simply hijacking an old happy hour list here)
Buy your $25 presale tickets at http://www.etix.com/ticket/online/performanceSearch.jsp?performance_id=1847295.
Tickets at the door will be $30.
