PVCC CHORUS CONCERT HIGHLIGHTS FOLK SONGS FROM AROUND THE WORLD NOV. 23
Charlottesville, Va. – The Piedmont Virginia Community College Chorus performs its fall concert, “Folk Songs from Around the World,” Sunday, Nov. 23, at 3 p.m. on the Main Stage of the V. Earl Dickinson Building. Admission is free and the concert is open to the public.
This diverse program of music will tell the stories, history and culture of our world. With songs from South Africa, Wales, Canada and the British Isles and music from the Jewish, African-American and American traditions, this concert will explore a wide range of musical territories to satisfy a variety of musical tastes.
The chorus is conducted by Horace Scruggs, PVCC’s instructor of choral music, with guest artist Susan Nothnagel providing accompaniment. Scruggs has been teaching and conducting professionally since 1985. He is the choral director for Fluvanna County High School and directs the Fluvanna Community Singers. He has taught all grade levels (K-12) and has worked professionally with school, community and church choirs and ensembles.
The PVCC Chorus, now in its 16th season, is a one-credit class open to students and community members without audition. New members are always welcome.
