Preparing to Vote on Nov. 8
Sydney Pratt, staff writer
As election day approaches, people are slowly deciding whom they want to vote for. These people participate in watching debates, researching all presidential candidates, and even going to rallies. Many people have fought for racial and gender equally, which means more Americans have the right to vote. With that being said, more people should appreciate having these rights and should definitely register to vote.
On Monday, Oct. 3, Piedmont Virginia Community College made it their goal to make sure young potential voters are registered and educated enough to be able to vote come this November.
In the Bolick Center, students crowded around the table that was covered in blank registration papers along with life-sized cutouts of presidential candidates Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump.
It was surprising to see how many people had not previously registered to vote. The process to register was extremely simple. The steps included filling out a paper with personal information. This information is used to clarify if you are a US citizen and to determine voter precinct according to your address.
Educating one’s self when it comes to politics is extremely important. Research all possible candidates by going on to trusted websites or news channels. This way, people can fully participate in voting and not neglect their rights.
