Casino night 2016
Fog, a red carpet, loud music and colorful lights contributed to the fast and fun environment at PVCC’s casino night on Oct. 28. Student Government Association students and other volunteers worked for hours before the event to be sure the main building was decorated in a festive Halloween theme.
“Casino night was a great event. A good time was had by all,” said Frank Friedman, PVCC’s president.
Plenty of students and faculty showed up to play craps, roulette, poker and black jack. Dr. Friedman and Justin Storer, an instructor of Mathematics, were dealers for the night. Many other faculty members also attended and seemed to have fun.
“Casino night was a huge success and I am very proud of how the event took place. I was surprised by the number of people who came out to play at pvcc,” said Olivia Stevens, director of events for the SGA.
Aside from the games, there was finger food and fun party music. Students and faculty were encouraged to dress up and participate in the costume contest that followed the games.
Brennan Tanner won a Kindle Fire with his rendition of Howl from Howl’s Moving Castle. Other students and faculty had a chance of winning tablets, an iPhone 5c, and many gift cards through a raffle. These tickets were bought with play money and chips they won in the games.
Returning students would have noticed a few changes from the previous casino night.
“This year’s casino night was different than the prior because we eliminated the waiting line at the raffle table, we used the auditorium to play the raffle, a fog machine at the entrance was a new addition, and the design of the casino city was unique,” said Wadah Al Mulhim, the SGA president.
However, the spirit of fun that comes with each annual casino night was preserved.
“All the people who attended the event were satisfied with our games, food, music, and raffles,” said Al Mulhim.
