As the fall semester draws to a close, the Student Government Association (SGA) is taking some time to reflect on their accomplishments.

Wadah Al Mulhim, the SGA president, along with the rest of his executive board, incorporated some new additions to the SGA’s agenda this semester. Once a month, the SGA chose a member to receive the Member of Outstanding Services Award. Out of the original 37 SGA members, Julianna Suarez, Caleb Martin, and John Linkous were the winners of this award. They were awarded a $25 gift card and access to Al Mulhim’s special parking spot for a week.

The SGA has sponsored and held eight events so far this semester, including their yearly Welcome Back Social, Casino Night, and an Ice Cream Social with Mary Baldwin University. A few new events for this year were Voter Registration, Popcorn and Presidents, and Cupcakes and Candidates. The SGA collaborated with many clubs this semester to make their events a success.

The last fall event for the SGA is going to be No Worry Wednesday. This event will be held on Dec. 7 from 11 a.m-1 p.m in the North Mall Meeting Room. The goal of this event is to allow students to talk with professors about their stress in an attempt to relieve some of it. The SGA will be providing free food.

In preparation for the spring semester, Al Mulhim and the rest of his executive board have begun to plan the upcoming events.  So far on the agenda is a Spring Fling, a Town Hall Meeting, and the second annual Talent Show.
