Donald Trump’s Inauguration shown live in Dickinson

In celebration of the Inauguration of Donald Trump, the 45th President of the United States, PVCC streamed the event live inside the Dickinson Theatre for students, faculty and staff. The doors of the theater opened at 9:00 a.m., where a live stream of the Inauguration was shown on C-Span.
Early on during the broadcast, C-Span was taking in listener calls. The calls ranged from people excited to “make America great again” and were hoping for a great four or possibly even eight years, to non Trump supporters calling in saying they were willing to give Trump a chance.
After a few minutes of taking in calls, C-Span then started to show footage of the Inauguration with no commentary or interruptions. Some of the footage included the soon to be Inaugurated president leaving St. John’s Episcopal Church, footage from inside the Senate, and congressmen and congresswomen who came to watch the Inauguration.
While crowds slowly grew in the District of Columbia, it was the exact opposite inside the Dickinson Theatre; nobody showed up until an hour and a half into the stream. When people finally started to show up, many had different views on the Inauguration.
“I have no idea what to expect,” said student John Matthews. Matthews also hopes that Trump will only be in office for four years and did not think a year ago that he would be watching Trump’s Inauguration.
Just before Trump was sworn in, student Emerson Stern envisioned a hopeful view of the next four years, as he envisioned the next four years as being great and expected a lot of change in finance and economics.
