Fall 2017 Welcome Back Social

On Wednesday, Sept. 6, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. the Student Government Association (SGA) is hosting their annual Welcome Back Social. The event will be located in the Bolick Student Center and on the Student Patio.
The Welcome Back Social is one of the biggest events the SGA hosts on campus during the Fall semester. Last year, so many PVCC students, faculty, and staff came to the event that it broke the record for largest Welcome Back Social at PVCC to date.
The purpose of the Welcome Back Social is to give the PVCC community a break from their work and school, and provide some entertainment and fun. John Linkous, the director of events for the SGA, said, “I’m really looking forward to the event as we’re bringing in food and a couple distractions for the students and faculty to have fun and be able to get away from the stresses of classes and work.”
A few of the “distractions” include a dunk tank, free food, live music, juggling, face painting, and a pie eating contest. In past years, participants have also made use of the wide grassy field around the Student Patio and played games like volleyball and spikeball. The winners of the pie eating contest will receive a $25 gift card.
Waqas Al Mulhim, the SGA President, said, “The Welcome Back Social was the first event I participated in last year in the SGA. This event was very fun and helpful. Through this event, I met a lot of friends, faculty, and staff. I look forward to meeting the new students and faculty as the SGA president next week during the event.”
