PVCC’s One Stop Shop for Pottery
Jamie Blake, staff writer
Do you like handmade functional wear that you can use every day? If the answer is yes, then come check out the Annual Pottery Sale being help in the Dickinson building at PVCC. The pottery sale will include bowls, plates and cups that were made by students in the advanced ceramics class.
Tom Clarkson is the teacher of the ceramics classes at PVCC, which is located on the first floor of the Dickinson building, and his work will also be shown in the sale. He says, “All are welcome and most of the people who come are not from PVCC.” Mr. Clarkson encourages everyone to come and either look or buy the handmade clay creations.
The PVCC students have been working on various projects throughout the semester to get ready for this night. The projects vary from different funtical houseware, such as cups, bowls and plates. The prices start at five dollars and range up to twenty, which Tom emphasizes is very reasonable.
Mr. Clarkson also says, “There is a line starting promptly when it opens, so get here early if you want to buy something.” When people buy a handmade project the proceeds will go to fund a nationally known ceramic artist to come and teach a workshop at PVCC. The artist is different each year. All who are associated with the college are welcome to join. The Annual Pottery sale is Dec. 1 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
