PVCC Writing Center Update: Online Summer Tutoring
For the safety of both students and faculty alike, PVCC’s physical doors will remain closed throughout the summer semester, requiring students to exclusively take online classes if they wish to continue their education during this time. Luckily, classes are not the only thing adapting to these times. Many of PVCC’s resources are also available online for students to access from the safety of their homes, one of which is the Writing Center.
As they did in the previous spring semester, the Writing Center is offering online tutoring via 50-minute Zoom sessions for students to continue getting the academic support they need to strive in their classes. For more information about how these sessions are conducted, and how to schedule one, check out my other article: “Digital Times: The Writing Center Goes Online.”
The Writing Center’s hours during the summer semester, which will run from May 26 through August 2, are Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and on Sunday from 1-4 p.m. Spanish tutoring is also available from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. To schedule a Spanish advising session, follow the links to schedule a session normally, and then follow the specific instructions provided under “Available Time Slots.”
The English Conversation Circle will adapt to online as well, taking place from 12 to 1 p.m. every Wednesday, starting May 27.To schedule an appointment with a tutor or join the English Conversation Circle, visit the Writing Center website and follow the links provided. A short video and step-by-step instructions are available to help walk students through the scheduling process. For more information, email tutoring@pvcc.edu, or contact Jennifer Koster, the writing center coordinator and English professor at PVCC, directly at jkoster@pvcc.edu.
