Piedmont Profiles

When I had finished high school, I set out to become an automotive service technician at CMA’s Volvo Cars of Charlottesville. After two years of physical labor and long, hard hours, however, I felt like I needed to try something new to keep my own passion for working on cars intact. That brought me to look into a writing career, mainly in the field of automotive journalism, as it was one of my favorite considered career paths. I needed training and insight though, which brought me to PVCC’s Liberal Arts program. I signed up for ENG 121 as soon as I could and began writing articles for The Forum.

I found a knack for editing and laying out articles, particularly. I love the aspect of being a creative force in the design and structure of other peers’ writing and helping the best aspects of their own reporting shine. Dr. Whyte works hard to push me toward my goals, helps me find and work on my own weaknesses, and supports me on my journey to become a better writer, editor, and designer. This experience, guided by The Forum, will be something I cherish and look back on, as I continue to hone my skills and work toward a more creative career path and future.
