Competition, Cocoa, and Christmas Cookies at PVCC’s Ugly Sweater Party

Campus News Events

On Dec. 2, the PVCC Ugly Sweater Party was held from 12:30-2 p.m. in the Main Building Event Space. Hosted by Mary-Evelyn Sellars, coordinator for student life and campus engagement at PVCC, the Ugly Sweater Party had candy and snacks, a hot cocoa bar, a Christmas cookie decorating station, and even an ugly sweater competition. This event helped celebrate the holiday season at PVCC in an engaging way and brought students and staff together through fun festivities.

At the Ugly Sweater Party, tables with holiday treats lined the walls. On one table were an assortment of cookies, pretzels, cheeses, and chips. Next to these was a bowl filled with M&M’s candy as well as the hot cocoa self-serve bar, where students could pour and stir a cup of hot cocoa for the holidays. To the right of these tables, another row was set up, featuring a holiday cookie decorating station. Visitors could grab a sugar cookie and decorate it with the provided sprinkles, frosting, and toppings to celebrate the holidays in a tasty way.

The Ugly Sweater Party also held a competition to decide who wore the best ugly sweater. Photos were taken of the contestants wearing their ugly sweaters and judged by Sellars. The contestants who entered the ugly sweater competition were: Rachael Pond, Will Scharer, Amearah Davis, and Felix Navad.

Out of these contestants, the winner was decided to be Will Scharer, who wore an ugly sweater featuring Jack Skellington holding Christmas lights up.
