Supercars At CHS: Black Knight Rides Fall Charity Car Show
On Saturday, Nov. 16, from 9 a.m. to noon, the Charlottesville High School car enthusiast club Black Knight Rides, hosted their second annual Fall Charity Car Show. The goal of the event was not only to bring together like-minded car enthusiasts and CHS students but also for attendants to donate nonperishable food items to the Blue Ridge Food Bank.
The event attracted a large number of spectators and attendants, with the main display featuring three exotic cars from a local private collection: a limited edition purple Lamborghini Diablo SE30, a Swedish Koenigsegg CCXR roadster, and a 1 of 1 Lexus LFA in a special powder blue color. This trio of rare cars (on full display and unrestricted for all to see up close) had spectators in awe, their doors and hoods open to show off details from the high-performance works of art. One attendant, Thomas Gill said, “I had no clue there was a Koenigsegg in Charlottesville!”
Former and current CHS students and staff, as well as local enthusiasts, also brought their vehicles to show off. There were a wide variety of vehicles, including but not limited to Japanese tuner cars, vintage American muscle cars and trucks, European imports, and the aforementioned trio of supercars.
Buzzing Bee Coffee Company had a food truck at the end of the lot and catered for the event, with a variety of options for coffee and brunch pastries. Black Knight Rides plans to host another car show next year, with the food drive’s 96 cans donated and turnout of over 70 cars being considered a success by the club’s founder and event planner, Andy Josselyn.
